"Tried is a song about a quest for identity and acceptance. An inquiry regarding one’s love for another and grappling with it not always being reciprocated. We don’t always love or care the same way and it can be tough to grapple with that. There’s alot of melancholy emotion in this buffered by a brooding sense of tension. This is a fraction of a sort of never ending journey to find fulfilment in an uncertain world." - Gone

Gone began as a solo project by Nate Crawford. Typically playing as a two-piece live with a different line up of drummers taking place over the years, he began building a local following. In 2018 he began writing with Brett Helke. The two were both looking for outlets for their songs, so one would play while the other essentially taught themselves how to play drums. Over time things began to click. Growing closer over the years through their shared love for bands like Unwound, Blonde Redhead, and Duster.
