Confidence is the second new single from Brighton based renaissance man, ELLiS D. Combining scratchy, present guitars with erratic drumming and a steady baseline, Confidence pulsates with unkempt energy. ELLiS' emotive voice is held over the top in this thrilling new single.

Self-recorded in between dates of his debut UK headline tour with producer Maximilian in Brighton’s secret DIY studio space known to its inhabitants only as ‘The Carwash’, swaggering rhythms flirt with heavy fuzz laden chorus hooks as ELLiS·D showcases a new side to his songwriting.

Drawing on the themes of ‘Confidence’, ELLiS·D offers:

“I wanted to create a sound that tapped into the felling of false self-assurance that comes with performance, the high I get from portraying a character of sorts for the space of forty five minutes only to come off stage and sink back into my own persona in the blink of an eye. It’s
the escapism in live performance that I find so enthralling, and ‘Confidence’ is a way of expressing that conflict of emotion in between”

Best known on the south coast as the manic drummer of Strange Cages who set about flailing his limbs across the tattered kits of Brighton’s basement DIY scene, ELLiS·D began his solo project in late 2019 with the release of debut single ‘Elastic’ which led to support slots for DITZ, Frankie & The Witch Fingers, U-Bahn, Mush + more across the UK in the
short space of six months before the pandemic ground live music to a halt.

2022 has seen performances at legendary London venues The Windmill, Shackelwell Arms, Old Blue Last, Paper Dress Vintage among others as well as four packed out shows at this year’s The Great Escape.
